Initiatives/Workgroups

UNHOUSED WORKGROUP
Partnered with Community Resource Center to create Little Green House-a resource Hub for the Unhoused or potentially Unhoused.
Continuing to meet to identify gaps in services for the Unhoused as well as support the Cold Weather Shelter on Camano Island.

Disaster Preparedness Workgroup
Representatives from SnoCo Emergency Management, North County EMS, Stanwood-Camano School District, City of Stanwood, Camano Center, Stanwood-Camano Food Bank, Providence, Island County Health, Camano Island Chamber, Camano Island Preparedness Group are meeting monthly. Currently providing workshops for nonprofit organizations and small businesses to help to develop plans then work with the overarching organizations to identify assets during and after an event.

Food Insecurity Workgroup
Representatives from Camano Center, Stanwood-Camano Food Bank, Community Resource Center and Cold Weather Shelter are meeting monthly to identify food gaps, identify food programs, and working together to improve access to food for our community.

Dental Workgroup (New)
Safe Harbor Free Clinic, Skagit Community College, and Local Dentists are beginning to meet to brainstorm how to serve the dental underserved.

Kindergarten Readiness (Closed)
A 3 year initiative funded by a generous grantor. Community Resource Center, SCAF, YMCA, ChildStrive, Stanwood-Camano School District representatives met monthly over these 3 years and created and funded projects and programs that have already show to improve the kindergarten readiness of the children in our community. Great job!

Transportation Workgroup (Closed)
A workgroup made up of representatives from Camano Center, Community Resource Center and Lincoln Hill Retirement Community. Inspired the creation of the North County Transportation Coalition headed up by SnoTrac. Snow Goose Transit was a project by this workgroup and funding in part by WSDOT.
