Additionally, they stressed the importance of the unity of agencies in the Coalition to develop services for both groups and the importance of understanding the specific needs of the community. The meeting also covered the necessity for conducting a needs assessment to determine the extent of food insecurity, particularly among older adults in the community. The group explored various methods of data collection, including surveys, outreach to healthcare providers, and collaboration with nonprofit organizations to identify service gaps. Additionally, there was a focus on extending services based on identified needs and available funding. There was a specific mention of the LK region as a potential area for intervention. The conversation also delved into the guidelines for providing meals through programs like Meals on Wheels, including customization for dietary restrictions, and the potential for Medicaid and Medicare to pay for medically tailored meals.
